Can we get anymore excited by the thought of gold? Of course! Gold is something that’s been traded for thousands and thousands of years. So if you want to make sure that you have a part of your portfolio that will always be there for you, it’s got to be gold. Gold is something that’s only getting more and more valuable, not less and less valuable. So no matter what you’re trying to achieve with your investing plans, adding a gold and precious metals plan is really the best way to go. It’s just a matter of figuring out what you really want to do.

Mind if we make a few suggestions? If you’re looking for a good gold coin that gets attention, you really can’t go wrong with investing in Gold Krugerrand coins.

Curious about these coins? We figured you would be — check them out.

You see, production on these fine bullion coins started in 1967. This is interesting because for many years, gold bullion ownership was outlawed except for coins that had collectible value.

South Africa produced these coins and they are still in production to this day. The coins have a legal tender with a face value, but this was only to allow citizens of other countries the power to buy the coins. Many countries outlaw the purchase of bullion coins unless they can actually be used as legal tender.

At the beginning, there was really only one size gold Krugerrand to deal with — the 1 ounce coin. Keep in mind that when we talk about sizes in the world of gold, it is always done by the troy ounce.

The problem with the 1 oz size is that it’s going to be pretty expensive. This means that if you are a new investor with a smaller capital investment to spend, you won’t be able to get too much into gold Krugerrands. Thankfully other sizes were minted to appeal to investors that were in that situation — you can go with 1/10 ounce gold Krugerrands (often shortened to just “Krugs” or “Krugers”) and work your way up to owning the 1 ounce variety.

We like gold Krugs over gold bars, because they are so much easier to transport and store as well as buy and sell. It gets to a point where you might not find as many dealers that will work in terms of gold bars anymore. Gold bullion is much more preferred.

There is a collectible version of the Krugerrand — the “proof” variety. These are very high end coins that have a higher premium than normal bullion Krugerrand coins do. So it’s very important that you take care of them in order to preserve their collectability. You should always have an enclosure for a proof Kruggerand or any other proof coin.

As you might expect — the twin worlds of collecting and investing tend to run hand in hand when it comes to precious metals trading. Will you get started? There’s really only one way to find out what’s waiting for you — dive in today!

The business of buying and selling collectible coins can be a tricky one. Indeed, there’s a lot of room for error, and there’s also a lot of room to end up making the wrong buying decision if you’re not careful. It’s much better to ensure that you really are playing all of your cards right before you get in too deeply. If there’s one thing that we’ve learned so far, it’s that the more you arm yourself with the proper education and information, the easier it will be to avoid fraud in the first place.

Shady dealers are hoping that they can get one past you. They’re hoping that you won’t look into the things that you know you need to look for, and they’re hoping that you won’t examine close enough to have any suspicion thrown your way. That’s the trouble though — new collectors tend to take everyone at their word even if they sound the least bit knowledgeable. You will need to make sure that you’re really keeping your eyes open!

One of our favorite coins would have to be the Morgan Dollar, especially the Genuine Proof Morgan Dollars. These fetch a pretty high resale price, so if you have a chance to invest, you definitely should.

There are ways to tell the difference between the genuine variety and what’s known as Deep Mirror Proof-Like Morgan Dollars (DMPLs).

Those DMPL’s are still valuable but they’re nowhere near as valuable as the genuine proof ones. Why? Well, they are circulated coinage, which means that they’re going to have dents, dings, scratches, and other issues with them. There will also be bag marks and scuffs, even though these coins have such a beautiful mirrored surface.

You can always tell a Proof Morgan Dollar because there aren’t any bag marks, dings, scuffs, or scratches. These proof coins were made with special planchets and struck with dies that were finished properly. The sharpness of the strike is absolutely gorgeous, so all of the features stand out strongly.

If you’re really trying to invest in Proof Morgans, you will want to buy your coins from a source that is selling graded coins. This really isn’t something that you should just trust to chance. Grading services such as the NGC and PCGS are there for a reason — true experts can make the distinction between the proof coins and the mirror proof-like ones, saving you the trouble of making a costly mistake!

Now is definitely the time to expand your coin collection — which way will you go?

Are you getting into coin trading from a collector’s standpoint or even an investor’s standpoint? Well, you will probably want to figure out all of your options either way, so let’s get right down to them!

If you’re going to get into investment grade coins, then it’s really all about the gold Sovereign coins. British Gold Sovereigns are always popular, and they will keep their value for many years to come.

If you want to always know what your gold out of these coins is worth, you can take the current gold bullion per ounce spot price and multiply this number by 0.2354. That’s going to let you know how much the intrinsic gold value of the Sovereign coin is — as long as it’s dated 1817 or later.

If you’re interested in other coins of collective value, UK coins definitely give you a wide collection to choose from. You can go with Bank Tokens, the Bank of England Dollar, a Five Pound Crown, a Florin, a Guinea, a Half Farthing, or even the Half-crown or Halfpenny.

There are plenty of reasons to both collect and invest in coins. If you enter this world, you’re going to have a physical item that you can hold in your hand. If this is something important to you, then it’s one of the best reasons to become a coin collector. This also means that your investment is under your control — not hiding out on a computer system or anything else like that. You can also trade coins the way you would any other collectible item. If you want to take matters into your own hands, you will be able to do that.

If you had to suddenly move and you needed to sell items quickly, you could turn your valuable coins back into actual cash.

In the case of market collapse, you will actually still have something to barter with that isn’t paper money. This can be very important to some people as well.

There’s a lot of different ways to enter this world, and portfolio strategy will depend on exactly what you’re trying to accomplish. While it’s tempting to wait for a perfect time to invest in UK coins of any kind, the time is now to really dive into the market and see what’s really waiting for you!

Are you thinking about investing in gold? Well, you have to be a little bit if you’re looking around at your options on this site. There’s a lot to cover about gold — far more than just one guide could possibly cover. However, if we’re going to get honest about gold, we would have to start with the advantages.

You don’t need a degree in economics to realize that the economy isn’t doing well at all. There are so many threats to the quality of life that we all enjoy that it might seem silly to actually invest. However, this is definitely what you need to do if you want to be secure through all seasons. Having multiple streams of income and multiple investing sources is definitely a wise idea. Some people don’t see the power of gold, but it’s one of the few things that have truly lasted multiple lifetimes.

Gold is ancient — the Egyptians of ancient societies long gone treasured gold. We use gold in a variety of products today, and it’s definitely a very precious metal that we would like to hold onto for a while. The price of gold is steadily going up, and as market conditions worsen as people are looking at ways to get into the game of gold.

Gold trading is something that can be done in so many different ways. You don’t have to try to settle for one path — try them all and see what really speaks to you. It’s just all about what you’re trying to accomplish. If you prefer to do all of your investments online, then you can go with electronic gold futures. This will still let you trade gold like it’s actually sitting in your house, safe and sound. If you know that your house isn’t very secure then this is a smart way to hang onto your gold and make sure that everything is where it needs to be.

On the other hand, some people like the power of always having their gold with them. If that’s something that you care about, then it would be in your best interest to think about getting gold bullion coins. These will let you make your gold portable. You don’t have to try to invest in those big bulky blocks of gold if you don’t want to. Sometimes those can be hard to store. Naturally, you will still want to make sure that you store your gold in a safe and secure place. If you decide to keep your gold with you, there is a good chance that someone might try to take it from you. Gold can be melted down quickly and it’s very hard to trace. So these problems definitely happen — it’s better to be on your guard than too relaxed.

You will need to make sure that you join a group online that focuses on gold as an investment. Sure, it’s something that’s nice to look at and many gold investors are also collectors of gold coins. However, the power of gold is that it keeps its value once you invest in it. Are we saying that gold never loses value in the intraday markets? Not at all. However, there is something to be said about investing in gold and holding onto it for the long run.

We are also not saying that you have to be stuck with gold forever to the point where you forsake all other investments. This is just a nice idea to add to your arsenal when you really want to round out your portfolio and step back from the traditional markets every now and then.

Keep these tips in mind — you never know when you’ll need them to start your new investing career in gold!

Looking into premium investing and ways to grow your money is always a good thing. However, if you’re going to think about that, then you really owe it to yourself to start thinking about the classic investments, investments that we’ve been thinking about for decades, even centuries.

We’re talking about using gold as a way to really round out your portfolio. Now, we’re not saying that you should only invest in gold. The world of investing is very vast, and that means that there’s plenty of ground to cover. You don’t have to rely on just one thing to make your portfolio. In fact, it would be downright dangerous to only think about one thing instead of diversifying as much as possible. It’s no secret that markets come and go — when the market is down, it’s natural for people to think about other products and services that always seem to be around. Gold is a precious product that is always in high demand, and the price of gold is only going to go up as time goes by. So it’s a good idea to get into investing in gold.

The New Year is a time where we all stop to reflect on everything that we want. Why shouldn’t you feel like it’s a good time to think about new investing opportunities? Some people like to spend money, while other people like to invest. Think about the last time you went crazy at the mall. Are any of those items really improving your life, or are they just making your life worse? It’s better to make sure that you can really focus on getting things done in a way that’s going to have lasting returns, not just take up more space in your closet.

And that brings us back to gold, yet again. It’s something that definitely has great value no matter how you look at it. Even though you might be at the point where you really want a change in your life, you might not automatically turn towards gold. Many properly feel that gold is only expensive — but that’s not true. You can get gold bullion coins that are a bit less expensive. You don’t have to invest in heavy gold bars or other things that might be too expensive for you to buy.

Collecting a country’s gold coin can help you ease into the market slowly. As you accumulate more resources, you can upgrade your gold collection accordingly.

Again, there’s nothing that says that you have to only invest in gold, or that you should dump your life’s savings in there. Just as you will want to make some of your investing portfolio gold, you will also want to turn to liquid investments as well. It’s never a bad thing to be a little conservative when it comes to your money.

Make sure that you’re looking into all of your options and taking things slowly — this could mean the year that you really do invest in gold after all!

Newcomer to the world of gold and silver trading? Feeling like you’re in over your head? Don’t worry — a lot of people start out that way. You just need to make sure that you’re building yourself a good strategy and sticking to it. There’s no reason in the world to feel like it’s impossible to get what you want, then you really think about it. There are a lot of different paths in the world of gold and silver buying. It’s not nearly as risky as you might imagine — you just need to make sure that you know what path you want to walk down.

Like many other forms of investing, it’s all about the amount of risk that you want to take. Yes, gold is going to be around practically forever, but we would be lying if we said that gold never falls in price ever. There are going to be times where gold does indeed fall in value somewhat, but it’s something to hold onto for the long run. Gold will always have a value, unlike paper currency. Paper currency is set by a system and series of complicated global formulas. This is what leads to inflation and other problems and even what has caused some currencies to collapse. So if you really want to make sure that you can focus on the bigger global picture, you’ll actually find that gold and silver trading is the way to go.

But where do you start? You want to think about how much you actually have set aside to spend as well as what your purposes are going to be.

If you really want to invest in these precious metals in order to protect your assets and also have something that can be spent in the event of a currency drop or massive world collapse, then you have some options.

If you have $5,000 or less to spend, then you need to make sure that half of your amount is going to be in silver. We recommend US 90% silver coin or even 1oz Silver Rounds. The other half should be in British Sovereigns, French 20 Francs, or even 1/4 oz American Eagles. We’re talking about troy ounces of course — which are 31.1034 grams. These numbers are definitely important when you’re talking about precious metals trading.

If you have a little more (like $10,000), you should focus on at least two-thirds of your investment capital into US 90% silver coin or 1oz Silver Rounds again. The balance will need to be divided between British Sovereigns, French 20 Francs, or 1/4 oz American Eagles. In addition, you will want to check out South African Kruggerands, Austrian 100 Coronas or Mexican 50 Pesos. These are all precious metal bullion coins that will have value for the long run, and are definitely still traded to this day.

What if you really have a lot more money than that and you really want to make sure that you can enjoy it for the long run. If you have $25,000 to spend you want to do just like you did at the $10,000 bracket, except you want to change the “balance” section. So two-thirds are still going to be in those lovely US 90% silver coinage or the 1oz Silver Rounds, and then half of your remaining third will be in Sovereigns, French 20 Francs, or 1/4 American Eagles. The other half should be in 1 oz. Kruggerands, Austrian 100 Coronas, Mexican 50 Pesos, or American Eagles.

If you have much more to spend, like $75,000 or higher, then you will definitely want to go ahead and do two-thirds in US 90% silver coin and/or 1 oz Silver Rounds, but you want to mix it up a bit for the other 1/3rd. $5,000 worth can be in Sovereigns, 20 Francs, or 1/4 Eagles. The balance needs to be in Kruggerands, American Eagles, or 100 Coronae (Austrian).

There’s plenty of mixing and matching that you can do from here, but we didn’t think it was necessary.

If you’re going to get into the world of gold and silver trading, there’s a lot that you’re going to have to master before you really plunge in. Sure, you’re going to be tempted to try to do just about everything you can in order to make profits, but that’s going to be a long term mistake that will cost you a lot more than you think.

As hard as it is to slow down, that’s what you’re going to have to do. You’re going to need to make sure that you really understand what you’re getting into. So we’re going to cover another topic that comes up when it comes to gold and silver trading: purity.

Purity actually comes up a lot because it’s one of the key factors that you have to think about when it comes to purchasing gold and silver. Purity refers to the grades of the precious metal in question, the percentage of the metal compared to other base elements used.

Does gold and silver purities really matter? Well, it depends on who you’re trying to buy and sell from. If you’re only going for the collector’s value of things, then purity will matter a great deal. However, if you’re trying to be a trader and thinking about how easy it is to move items, then purity really doesn’t matter. Purity is going to be irrelevant when you’re trying to build a bullion portfolio. In the eyes of many gold and silver investors, purity isn’t a big deal.

If you really want to know what matters, it can be summed up simply: weight. The weight is what’s going to matter. The gold content is what counts here. A 1/4 oz (troy ounces) American Eagle is always going to be in season. It doesn’t have to be a 24kt gold piece in order to be considered valuable.

In fact, it’s very difficult to keep “pure” gold coins in proper condition. You might remember this from chemistry class, but gold is a rather soft metal in its purest form. This means that it’s susceptible to being damaged and even bent easily. So you will want to add another metal to these coins in order to make them more portable and easier to manage. This doesn’t take away from their value.

If you get an Austrian 100 Coronae, you will always know that it is 20 karat (90% pure) and will contact exactly 0.9802 troy ounce fine gold. Therefore, you will know how much it is simply by looking at the price on the markets currently.

Don’t be taken in by sellers that promote purity over all things. It’s not necessary to build a bullion portfolio that way — unless you want to.

As you get deeper into the world of gold and silver trading, you’ll find that so much of it is about what you want to do. Your choices. Everything you want can be there for you if you just reach for it — good luck!

Here’s a secret: we like silver. I mean, we really like silver around here. In fact, we often recommend silver when people don’t have enough money to get into gold. It’s not that we don’t love gold, but we have just realized that sometime it’s best to get into the precious metal that you can afford and work your way up. There are a lot of people that are cheating themselves out of the chance to really make their finances come together just because they think that they have to invest in gold. Gold is really only one piece of the pie and if you really don’t want to do gold, you really don’t have to. It’s just a matter of really making sure that you know exactly what you want and what you don’t want. That’s the real key to making big things happen in your life across the board.

Okay, okay. You want to know more about silver, and that’s fine with us — we love talking about silver. However, we’re not going to talk about proof coins. We think that everyone worships proof coins too much. The premium that you pay over the spot price can really be a little too much. So if you’re really going to get into the silver game, we actually think that it would be better to think about Silver Rounds before anything else. Silver Rounds are a great way to make sure that you get into the silver game without blowing all of your money.

Like in the world of proof coins, it’s all about the amount of silver in each coin. However, everyone can get into the game — the coins are broken into fractional amounts as small as 1/10th of an ounce. So even if you only had a budget of about 500$ (or whatever your currency is), there’s still a lot of coinage that you can buy.

Going online is the best place to get the Silver Rounds, because you will have plenty of different fractionals to choose from. The designs on each one are pretty, and it means that you get to have something nice to look at as well.

We’re not saying that you have to go with Silver Rounds. If you want to try to go with doing electronic silver trading, you can do that. Some people feel that it would be easier than going with something physical that could be stolen. On the flip side, some people like the physical nature because it means that they can know even if there was a massive collapse, you will be able to take care of any bartering needs that need to be done. In addition, if you had to make a sudden move and had to sell off the silver coins, you could find a lot of buyers for the physical product.

Don’t be discouraged by all of the different things that you have to learn in order to invest in silver well. As long as you’re staying consistent, there are plenty of things that you can get accomplished in virtually no time at all!

As the price of gold and silver climb higher and higher, there’s going to be more and more interest in actually owning these things. Sure, it’s tempting to think that all of you really have to do is just plunge into the market, but now isn’t really the best time for that type of speculation. You’re a lot better looking into everything that really goes into getting your hands on gold coins before you really get too involved. There are a lot of honest dealers that can really help you source some good stuff. By the same token, there are a lot of people that can actually make your life hard in ways that cost you a lot of time and a lot of money. Time and money are both things that are hard to get back, and there’s really no way to turn back time.

It’s far too easy to end up paying too much for your gold coins, or find yourself owning something that you thought was pure gold but has a higher percentage of base metals than what was advertised. You might even find yourself ordering something off TV that honestly has no monetary value other than the gold content — which wouldn’t be what you really wanted to do either. So you really need to make sure that you’re always doing the research. It’s far too easy to betray yourself and your goals when you skip doing the homework, just taking the word of someone else. This will only make life a lot harder for you in the long run.

You want to look at getting as much information as you can into the world of precious metal. Don’t let the dealer be the only one that’s trying to give you an education. It’s far too easy to assume that you can let your guard down in their presence, and that would just lead to a lot of things that you really don’t want.

Life is a lot simpler when you actually do things in a certain pattern that leads to you honoring your self interests above other people. In other words, don’t assume that the dealer is your friend — there’s definitely not your friend at all. You have to make sure that you look into whether or not the coins are going to meet your goals or not. If they aren’t, there should be no guilt on backing out of the deal and letting someone else deal with it.

Yet there often is, and that’s definitely a shame. You don’t want to find yourself in a position where you’re worried about what other people think about something. This only leads to other problems down the road, and not just in the world of coin collecting and precious metals trading.

Your best dealers will most likely belong to the Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG), which is a nonprofit organization. This organization is filled with the country’s best rare coin and bullion coin dealers. These member dealers have to follow a strict code of ethics when it comes to buying and selling coins of any kind.

You need to make sure that you know the price of the metals behind your coins. For example, when it comes to gold, you need to know the actual spot gold price, and then be aware that there is a small premium. This price will change from day to day or even week to week, so it’s really important that you study this rate to make sure that you know what the price should be. Also keep in mind that the spot gold price is based on 100 ounce or larger .999 fine gold bars.

There are also different sizes available, and the premium will be different. Generally speaking, you can add 3% to 15% to the spot price to get what you’re going to be paying for the gold. The different weights are as follows: 1/10th, 1/4th, 1/2 or 1 full ounce). If you don’t have a lot of money to start with, start with the 1/10th and work your way up.

You also need to know what to choose from — you can go with American Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs or even South African Kruggerands. There are other gold currency choices, but these are actually the most popular among traders. So if you are going to get any gold currency, it would be best to stick to these three if you really want to make sure that you’re going to be able to sell them off later.

There is a strong difference between bullion gold coins and rare gold coins that have a significant collector premium. These two things are actually not quite the same, and many new coin collectors have lost valuable coins over not understanding this difference.

If you’re going to build your gold collection but you don’t want to store it on your own, don’t try to store it at the dealership. It would be better to make sure that you actually store it at an independent and accredited depositary where it will be secured.

Gold is something that will last forever — it will always have a value, and you need to make sure that you guard that value well. Now is the perfect time to get interested in gold, so don’t delay!

If you’re like most families in this country, chances are good that you have a lot of old pennies. However, you really want to make sure that you’re not throwing away your pennies too fast. It’s quite possible to have a lot of potential money tied up in those pennies. This is because things are changing where you might be able to sell your pennies for the copper that they contain. You just have to decide what you’re actually going to do to get the money out of them.

First and foremost, you might want to get a book or look online for the rarest pennies out there. Looking for pennies that are actually worth money can be like going on a treasure hunt. You might not find much that’s worth anything, but you really never know what you’re going to find until you start looking. Yet if you don’t figure out what’s actually worth money and what isn’t, you won’t be able to really get anywhere fast. It’s just something that you’re going to have to look around for yourself. Don’t think that you have to automatically do everything just because you’re looking at making good money. It’s better to take your time and figure out what your options are actually.

So, what about this business of copper? Well the laws have not changed quite yet, but pennies made prior to 1982 are made of 95% copper. That means that you need 151 of these pennies to make 1 pound of pure copper. You can actually make money by bringing your pennies to a scrap yard, where they will pay for the metal itself once it can be melted down.

You need to keep watching the news to figure out what you’re going to be able to make, but the truth is that there really is a chance to make good money by playing the copper game, but you have to play it smart. Look first for the Lincoln pennies that were minted prior to 1982 anyway — there are collectors that will pay for good pennies from this era. You just need to keep looking for the pennies and keeping track of them. As the laws change, you could be sitting on a lot more money than you realized!
